Another year has passed in the history of the Detroit Mar Thoma Church Choir. Before we spring into the New Year that God has planned for the choir, we thank the Almighty Lord for enabling us to worship Him through music. We consider it a special call to serve in the Choirs, and acknowledge the joy and spiritual blessings that we received in serving our blessed Savior.

Both the Malayalam and English choirs led the congregation by singing melodious songs and assisted the worship services on each Sunday. The Choirs also assisted during Passion week services, Parish Convention, Choir Sunday, Wedding/Baptism service, funeral service and Christmas carol Service.

A General Body meeting of the Choir was held on December 24th 2006, and the following office holders were elected for the year 2007.

Choir Sunday
Choir Sunday was observed on June 3rd 2007 and the church choirs were re-dedicated during the worship service. Both Choirs participated and led choir day worship service. The choirs also presented special songs.

Choirs get together
Church choir organized a family get together of the Choir along with the representatives from the church and various organizations on September 15th 2007. It was a time of fellowship and joy for all who attended. Choir members expressed many of their talents during this event. Mr. M.E Mathew director of Child Evangelism Fellowship, India delivered the devotional talk. We had many performances by talented members of our Choir family and guest artists at this event.

Accompaniment
Mr. Shaji Eapen, Mr. Philip Varghese, Mr. Alan Thomas, Mr. Shane Thomas on Organ/Piano/Keyboard, Mr. Abhilash Thomas, Mr. Shane Thomas on Guitar, Mr. Shine Eapen/Jason Abraham on Drums, Mr. Aju Mathew on Tabala, Ms. Becky Philips on bells helped the church choirs during the worship service and/or on special occasions by providing instrumental music to the Choirs through out the year.

Conclusion
We are thankful to all families of the Detroit Mar Thoma Church for their continued support, encouragement and words of appreciation, with special thanks to Mr. Alan John and Mr. Alan Thomas for preparing and projecting chants / songs for Sunday services. We thank all those Choir Members who worked hard and made personal sacrifices for the success of the choirs, especially to those who consistently went beyond the normal call of duty, taking care of the special needs of the choir. We thank the choir leaders for their dedicated leadership. We thank our Vicar, Rev. K. T. Abraham and Rev. Shaji K. Thomas for their prayerful support and encouragement during their tenure. Again we thank the Almighty God for his abundant mercy through out the last year and pray for His guidance in the coming year.
