The Year 2009 saw many turmoil and strife all around us. Falling

During the year, the Sevika Sanghom monthly meetings are conducted
on every 1st Saturday in the member’s homes. These meetings provided
opportunity for the members to study the Bible and an extended time
of fellowship. Also on every 2nd Sundays we met at the church after
worship service, for Bible study and to transact various business
matters. This year we collected $3,769.60 for different charities &
mission work. One of the projects for 2009 was to support one
nursing student in India.
Ecumenical World Day Of Prayer: Over 200 Christian Women of Indian
origin gathered at the Detroit Mar Thoma Church On Saturday 14th,
2009 to mark this years’ World Day Of Prayer. Among those in
attendance were women representing CSI Congregation of Greater
Lakes, St Thomas Orthodox Church of India, St. Mary’s Orthodox
Church, St. Thomas Evangelical Church Of India, First CSI
Congregation of Michigan, St Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Church and the
Detroit Mar Thoma Church. This year’s theme was “IN CHRIST THERE ARE
MANY MEMBERS, YET ONE BODY.” Mrs. Elsy Varghese was the keynote
speaker. An offertory in the amount of $1,234.00 was collected
during the service and sent to the WDPUSA committee to support the
women of Papua New Guinea and for other projects that sustain women
around the world.
September 13th was observed as Sevika Sanghom Day. During this
worship service, Mrs. Lilly Cherian (Kuwait) gave an inspiring
message and the Sevika Sanghom members assisted during the worship
service.
