Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:14

Sunday school continues to play an important role in ministering the word of God to the children of our church. A typical Sunday day begins at 9:00 am with singing songs and memory verse recitals. The common fellowship session was led by Shane Thomas, Tessy Samuel, Jocelyn George and other youths. Students enjoyed each others fellowship along with remembering birthdays of children. The kids are also encouraged to learn memory verses. Tessy Samuel took the initiative to motivate the students to learn it by handing out reference for the kids to learn. We currently have over 100 students in twelve classes with 26 teachers.

The Sunday school committee comprised of, Vicar, Superintendent (Thomson David), Secretary (Susan Cherian), Treasurer (K.K. George), Auditor (C.V. Samuel) and all the teachers planned the activities for the year.

Diocesan Exam 2008

The Diocesan Sunday School Exam was held on May 11, 2008.  We would like to congratulate all the students who participated in the examination, especially the winners, the Sunday School teachers, and the parents who helped prepare them for the examination.  Approximately 29 students from our Church participated in the exam.  We were so proud that some of our students received special awards and they were:

Vacation Bible School

VBS was held from June 16 – 22, 2008. This years VBS directors were Ejie Mathews and Suja George.  This year, we invited Child Evangelist Team to lead VBS.  Special thanks to Jocelyn George, Tessy Samuel and Shane Thomas for leading songs.  Sunday School especially thanks Shane Thomas and Shine Eapen, for playing the piano and drums, respectively.  Ejie Mathews prepared the children for the final day program.  The kids enjoyed the arts and crafts with hard work by Sheila Verghese. The older kids had intense discussions led by Bijo Cheriyan. The church congregation as usual supported all of the programs by either assisting with the food arrangements and/or by personal donations.  Thanks to the parent’s personal donations, we met approximately 100% of VBS expenses for 2008.

Sunday school Anniversary

The anniversary celebrations were held on September 20, 2008 and coordinated by Reji Alexander. The occasion was graced by Rev. Shaji K Thomas. We had several performances from our students of varying natures. The program culminated in prize distributions for best overall performance, best attendance, memory verse competition and class participation.

Teachers dedication and Vijaydhina Sthothram, World Sunday school Day

Teachers dedicated themselves to Jesus Christ along with the children thanking God for being with them in the past school year and to ask HIS blessings for the New Year. The children participated in the offertory collection for the Vijaydhina Sthothram and active participation on the World Sunday School Day service.

Christmas Program

The Christmas program celebrations were held on December 20, 2008. Students of all ages actively participated in the nativity program initiated and directed by Sheba Oliver, Sarasu David and Susan Cherian along with help from several teachers. It was a play titled “The Christmas Carol”. Again thanks goes to all the children and parents for their active participation.

New Teachers

We graciously welcome Ms. Sheba Oliver (Grade 5) and Rubi Varghese (Grade 2) who were appointed as teachers .

Our appreciation to Rev. Shaji K Thomas for his leadership and advice in all the activities, Kuchamma for the selection of memory verses, the parents for their active participation and all the congregation for their prayers and support. We continue to thank the teachers for their tireless commitment and dedication.  May we be enabled to lead every child to Our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.

In His Service,

Thomson David (Superintendent)
