Youth League

By God’s grace, the Detroit Mar Thoma Youth Group has been blessed immensely this past year. We continued our efforts in the youth group through our ministry teams, which we started 2 years ago. Instead of having 7 separate ministry teams we decided to reduce the number to 5. In this new format our ministry teams consisted of Bible Study, Prayer, Worship, Small Group, and F.C.C. (Fellowship, Community Service, and Creative Presentation).
Over the past year the youth group has been blessed with the leadership of many youths ranging from all ages. Their desire to see our young youths grow in Christ has been a major factor for the smooth running of the youth group. The youth group has been maturing through multiple youth meetings, Friday prayers, and FNS’ throughout the year.
This past summer the youth group had the privilege of coordinating the VBS with the partnership of the Sunday School. Ruby Varghese was the head coordinator and her administrative abilities and preperation allowed this year’s VBS to be a great blessing for all our young children. This year also the youth group took an active role in the neighborhood ministry brought up by our beloved Theodosius thirumeni. During the fall semester we were able to participate in 2 homeless outreach events lead by the local T.E.A.M ministry. Through these events many of our youths were able to catch a glimpse of the difficulties people in our own neighborhoods are suffering through daily. Also on December 5th we were able to host a Christmas get together for children of the Angel Tree organization. These are children of incarcerated parent(s) who don’t have the privilege of celebrating Christmas with their whole family. During the event our youth group entertained the children through a body worship and an interactive game show. The children left the event with a Christmas meal and gifts donated by generous members of our church and given by a surprise visitor. Much gratitude goes to Anika Chacko and the Angel Tree ministry team for making this occasion such a success.
The youth group is now approaching the year 2010 with much anticipation and excitement. We look forward to serving the church in any way possible for the glory of our Lord. We hope and pray that God will guide us and lead us in the upcoming year and that we can serve him diligently.
